Launched in December 1964, Cape Lobster Exporters Association boasts a knowledgeable and efficient marketing and exporting infrastructure, with many decades of experience. Having pioneered the live lobster market in South Africa, Europe and the Far East, Cape Lobster has become the major South African exporter renowned, both in terms of quality and continuity of supply at market-related prices. Our strong environmental conservation policy, together with our continual striving to support the “little guy” (the artisanal fishermen) in the industry has made us leaders in our field. Rigid adherence to legal size limits and the continuous commitment in promoting these artisanal fishermen has contributed to our recognition as the leading exporters in the industry. We are proud to have achieved this continuous supply and exceptional quality to our international markets by planning and controlling our lobster catches strategically throughout the fishing season. Our commitment to maintain the most advanced systems in our live lobster holding facilities enables us to achieve these results. Our mortality rate is minimal (less than 1%) as our live lobsters are well purged in preparation for the long flights to Europe and the Far East. Due to our efficient handling and distribution system, our orders are processed swiftly and smoothly, with delays kept to an absolute minimum. We have achieved our success through ongoing commitment to quality, reliability and continuity of supply to our local and international customers.
